The first picture shows the crappy stove vent. Thankfully Show Hauler did not vent it outside, so I did not have to deal with a hole when I removed it. The vent also houses the water pump switch and tank levels.

So the first thing was to replace the tank sensor system. You can see the new monitor in the second picture just below the wall outlet. The new system uses a external tank sensor which never can clog, is always accurate and reads in percentage of full. Very nice specially when you have big tanks like most conversions do.

Next was to get a under the counter coffee maker. I search for one in black on & off for about 6 months and could not find one. Finally, I decided to just go with white and when I ordered it online there was a option for black which I couldn't believe.

The only way I could get it to clear the stove top when opened was to recess it into the top of the cabinet. Turned out great.

.....great mod & update !...if your a coffee drinker-I had to limit it to two cups a day....I can't believe that Showhauler just used a filtered stove vent hood....they cost $47 in SS and $39 painted with charcoal filters-both have a lite and a 3 speed fan....[kind of a waste as all you are doing is mixing the fumes better]....for that kinda Showhauler money I'd hit the ceiling with a el-cheap-o deal like that......then again I don't even have a stove I do grill outside -Yes! or microwave but cook....never! with all those restraunts waitresses to serve me!....geofkaye

.....paper towels are the only way to go on the road....wipe and toss.....took me the first trip to figure out what to do with all those wet messy cloth towels[bad mildew in plastic bags]....never though about paper till I started RV'in again....now I buy a 12 pack of Brawny each trip to Kroger....never use paper at home I get a bundle [50] of white towels [14X14"]from Wally and keep using/washing them till they are threads.....need to find a dispenser and a supply of those blue wipes that truckstops use....geofkaye

.....BTW baby wipes[no perfume] are good to have available also along with hand sanitizer and waterless hand cleaner....face/hand towels that come in those little packets and good gloves for filling the tanks with diesel fuel.... [diesel fuel taste and grilled cheese sandwich-YUCK!] ....windex in a squirt bottle for the windshield and mirrors because sometimes the soap bucket or brush at truckstops has oil/grease on it and makes the windows worse.......

I never have a fuel smell on my hands after filling the tanks. We bought a box of the polyethylene disposalble gloves. I keep them in the side compartment so when I get ot tful or dump the septic I put on a pair adn they go i the trash after so I have clean hands to eat the "grilled cheese" with.

wick: if your going to use gloves get the nitrial[dark blue] type - virus can penetrate your laytex and some polyethylenes and you can get Hept- a.b.c. from the waste....even the HIV virus is like kicking a socker ball through at double garage door from the the manufacturing defects in polys and laytex gloves.....be very careful around waste dumping stations-you can track waste on your shoes into your coach and infect kids that play on the carpet.....splashing sewer water in ones face is always a interesting reaction at dump sites from bad hose handling or windy conditions......I have seen unwatched kids playing in the sludge and water.....geofkaye

Say there Mr. Warpath, may I ask, did you replace the vent hood or just remove the original unvented one and install your new coffee maker where it had been?

Has anyone ever used any type of downdraft vent for a cooktop like Jenn-Air? I realize there would be some engineering involved with basement storage.
